The Arroyo Verde Mitts Knitting Pattern Details

Tucked up into the hills above Ventura is a little valley with a park in it. The valley floor is covered in a carpet of green grass, and the valley is ringed by trails through the hillsides. It’s a popular place for picnics, birthday parties, and little league games – and if you’re a dog-lover, there’s no better place in town to watch happy pups run at full speed trying to catch their favorite ball or stick.

Arrow

These mitts are designed to echo the green valley floor and the ring of trails around it. They are perfect for a brisk morning walk and lightweight enough to shove into a pocket once the day warms up. If you live somewhere with mild winters, or your winter is starting its transition to spring, these mitts will keep you just the right amount of cozy. The mitts are constructed with an afterthought thumb for speed and ease while knitting.

Sizes

These mitts are graded for three sizes: S, M, L. Finished mitt circumference 7 (7.5, 8) inches /18 (19, 20.5) cm. They will also stretch comfortably.

Materials

You'll need 150 yds/137 m of fingering weight yarn for these mitts.  I knit mine up in Knit Picks Stroll. Classic Elite Telluride is also a great option!

Tools

You will need scrap yarn for the thumb stitches, one stitch marker, and a tapestry needle. You will also need your preferred style of small circumference knitting needles. The suggested size is US 3/3.25mm

Skill Level

This pattern is good for intermediate knitters (or adventurous beginners). It uses increases, decreases, and twisted stitches, and the mitts are knit up in the round.
